The Public Services Commission (PSC) has formally appointed Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong as the substantive Chief Fire Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The announcement was made by Surv. Dr. Nana Agyemang Frimpong, Commissioner of the PSC, during the ongoing National Fire Conference, where stakeholders are exploring strategies to reduce fire incidents across the country.
Mrs Ntow Sarpong, who has been serving in an acting capacity since March 2025, has guided the Service with a steady hand.
Her confirmation now grants her full authority to implement her vision of a transparent and accountable administration, prioritising personnel welfare while enhancing the Service’s capacity to prevent and respond to fires effectively.
Her appointment coincides with this year’s conference, which emphasises garnering support from corporate Ghana for fire prevention and firefighting initiatives.
The event is also highlighting the need to strengthen the nation’s fire safety framework by improving management systems and aligning them with broader national development goals.
Discussions at the conference are focused on intensifying public education to foster a culture of fire prevention within communities.
