The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has contained a diesel spillage involving a bulk tanker at Odumase Afrancho near the Liberty Fuel Station off the Trede road in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Friday, August 8, 2026, after the Benz bulk tanker reportedly fell on its side following a steering lock, resulting in the spillage of about 13,500 litres of diesel.
The incident was reported to the GNFS at 4:20 p.m.

The BOST Fire Post appliance, DPT FS 730, arrived at the scene at 5:02 p.m. under the leadership of LFM Tuffour Kwakye Eugene.
The tanker, registered AS 8307-Z, sustained multiple dents to its bulk tank, which caused the fuel to spill.

Fire officers, together with personnel from other institutions, managed to contain the situation and washed away the spilt diesel using foam.
No casualties were recorded, and no salvage operation was undertaken. The firefighting team returned to base at 9:59 p.m.
