The Obuasi Trade Show, introduced by AngloGold Ashanti in 2019, has grown into a key annual event supporting business growth and job creation in Obuasi and surrounding communities. This year’s event marks the 8th edition.
In 2024, the Trade Show helped create 278 direct and indirect jobs, an increase from 223 in 2023, bringing the total number of jobs created since 2019 to 1,049.
These figures were shared by AngloGold Ashanti Obuasi Mine’s Community Relations Manager, Mr. Edmund Oduro Agyei, during the opening durbar.
The initiative continues to drive entrepreneurship, with 67 new businesses established in 2024 alone, more than double the number recorded the previous year.
Since its inception, 168 businesses have been created, while 872 companies have expanded their market reach through the Trade Show.
Chairman of the Obuasi Trade Show Consortium, Mr. Aboagye Ohene Adu, said the programme’s success shows its consistent and lasting impact.
He added that this year’s edition will feature activities such as a Kids’ Fun Fair, OTS Beauty Pageant, and other attractions to draw more patrons.
The Obuasi Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kanin, and the Regional Head of the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Mrs. Diana Ama Gyamfi, commended the initiative for empowering local entrepreneurs and supporting SMEs in line with government economic programmes.
The 2025 Trade Show is supported by AngloGold Ashanti, local assemblies, state agencies, and corporate partners.
