The Republic of Senegal has reaffirmed its firm and unwavering support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire national territory, including the Sahara region.
This position was expressed in a joint communiqué adopted on Monday in Rabat, following the meeting of the Morocco–Senegal High Joint Partnership Commission.
The session was co-chaired by Morocco’s Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, and Senegalese Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
On this occasion, the Senegalese side reiterated its full backing for the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco under its sovereignty, describing it as the only credible, serious, and realistic solution to the regional dispute, within the exclusive framework of the United Nations.
Senegal also welcomed the historic adoption on October 31, 2025, by the United Nations Security Council of Resolution 2797, which enshrines Morocco’s autonomy initiative — under Moroccan sovereignty — as the sole serious, credible and lasting basis for achieving a political solution to the issue.
