Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg are reportedly close to securing the signing of 22-year-old Ghanaian defender Jonas Adjetey from Swiss club FC Basel.
The centre-back has attracted interest from several European clubs, including FC Bologna, Wolverhampton Wanderers, RC Lens, and a number of Turkish Clubs.
However, Wolfsburg appear to have moved ahead in negotiations, with an agreement reportedly in place between the clubs and final talks with the player nearing completion.
The transfer fee is understood to be around €10 million, with Adjetey expected to sign a long-term contract for his move to Germany’s top flight.
Adjetey joined FC Basel in August 2022 and has since earned seven caps for Ghana.
This season, he has made 15 appearances in the Swiss Super League. His current market value is estimated at €7 million.
The move represents a significant step in Adjetey’s career, as he prepares to test himself in one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.
