Rabbi Odame-Ansa, Head Minister of Grace House Chapel International and CEO of Marriage Klinic, says unresolved emotional offence is one of the main reasons passion fades in marriage.
Speaking on Let’s Talk with Aseiduwaa, the popular relationship show, he stressed that romance cannot thrive where hurt feelings are consistently ignored.
According to Rabbi Odame-Ansa, restoring passion in marriage requires intentional effort. “Nothing works until you work it,” he said, explaining that relationships do not heal automatically. Just as the body needs care to function properly, emotions must be nurtured for intimacy and romance to return.
He noted that problems in marriage rarely begin with major conflicts. Instead, they often start with small issues that are ignored over time. When repeated behaviours cause emotional pain and are not addressed, resentment builds. “Treatment is everything in marriage and in a relationship,” he emphasised.
Rabbi Odame-Ansa explained that when a partner repeatedly apologises without changing their behaviour, it becomes a conscious decision to continue hurting the other person. This ongoing offence damages emotional connection, making romance impossible. “I can’t be romantic towards you if my emotions are affected,” he stated. “No one can be romantic when offended,” he added.
He concluded by advising couples to focus on emotional healing as the foundation for physical and romantic connection. “If you want the body to respond, work on the soul,” he said. “Stop the dislikes and do the likes.”
