Grief has engulfed a family at Abokobi near Somanya following the drowning of two young boys in a manhole within their home.
The deceased, Jason Teye Mensah, aged eight, a Class Two pupil, and Nathaniel Ayernor Kofi, aged nine, a Class Three pupil, had returned from school but were later reported missing when they could not be found in the house.
After hours of searching, their lifeless bodies were discovered in the manhole at about 6 p.m. on Thursday.
The boys are the children of Manye Dede Addo-Teye I, Developmental Queen Mother of the Plau Division in the Yilo Krobo Traditional Area.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service in Somanya were called to the scene and pumped water out of the manhole to enable the retrieval of the bodies.
The bodies have since been deposited at the Yilo Krobo District Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
The Somanya District Police Commander, Superintendent Kingsley Abrokwa, who visited the scene as part of investigations, confirmed the incident.
