The Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Anthony Sarpong, has donated 850 bags of rice and quantities of cooking oil to NDC regional Zongo caucus coordinators across the country to support Muslim communities ahead of the upcoming Eid al-Fitr celebrations.
The gesture forms part of efforts to mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and extend support to Zongo communities as they prepare for the festive period.
Under the arrangement, each regional coordinator received 50 bags of rice and cooking oil, which will be distributed to communities to assist families during the celebrations.
In total, about 850 bags of rice were shared across the regions and the national caucus.
Speaking during the presentation, Mr Sarpong extended his warm wishes to Muslims across the country, urging them to celebrate the occasion in peace, unity and mutual respect.
He also emphasised the values of compassion, generosity and solidarity, which are central to the Eid celebration.
The items were received by regional coordinators of the NDC Zongo Caucus, who expressed appreciation for the support.
They said the donation would go a long way in assisting members of Zongo communities to celebrate the festival with dignity and prayed for continued blessings for the GRA Commissioner-General.
