Assin Central Member of Parliament, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has praised the founder of the NDC and former President, Jerry John Rawlings for being a genuine and very objective person in his submission after Woyome's verdict.
The man at the centre of the 51 million Cedi judgment debt, Alfred Agbesi Woyome has been described by the former President as a thief after he was acquitted and discharged by an Accra High Court.
The former President addressing the family of W.O. (Warrant Officer) 1 Isaac Tetteh, (former bodyguard of Rawlings) in his house, vented his anger over the ruling, questioning the ability of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to fight corruption.
Commenting on this issue on Accra-based Okay FM, Ken Agyapong said former President Rawlings has proved to him that he is very objective and has the interest of the country at heart with the way he condemned the NDC government for setting Woyome free.
“Rawlings has proved to me that he is genuine and honest person; I will not say anything about him again. I have trusted him for the comment he made about the ruling and the role NDC played in the Woyome saga...I salute him for being objective in this case; he is frustrated but I now know he really loves his country genuinely after listening to the tape,” he professed.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong added that though he is not God, he has forgiven Rawlings for the murder he committed in the country some years ago; insisting Mr. Rawlings must be commended for showing that he loves the country.
He again commended former President Rawlings for not attacking the judge who presided over the Woyome case but rather his own ruling NDC government for the action they took to make Woyome got off the hook.
