Some 950 workers of Vodafone Ghana will be laid off in a compulsory redundancy programme.
The lay-off to be implemented at the end of November will affect all departments and could also lead to the closure of non-core departments.
This is different from the voluntary retirement package offered the workers under which they were offered three months salary per each year served with the company.
The compulsory redundancy programme also offers three months basic salary for each year served.
Chief Manager for Corporate Communications, Isaac Abraham who disclosed this to the media on Friday said the move is aimed at delivering better services to customers of the company.
He said the decision to lay off staff is part of a restructuring programme to be conducted in a “a fair and transparent manner.”
Vodafone took over the management of Ghana Telecom (GT) after it acquired 70 percent stake in the national telecoms operator.
