The Mentor reality show by far has exhibited all manner of positive and sometimes negative media reportage. Aside the failure of the last four finalists of Mentor 1 who were denied the pleasures of schooling abroad, other Mentor ‘Stars’ have also experienced bad omen or the other. The latest in the news is Sandra Adjoa Serwah Afreh, aka Sandy ‘Obolo’ whose eviction from the house generated a lot of attention both from the media and the general public. The situation Sandy finds herself now is like the popular phase of ‘been torn between the devil and the deep blue sea’. Sandy after her unsuccessful adventure into the Mentor world is now biting her nails for what she describes as lack of understanding between her Godfather, pastor and Mentor; Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng of Power Chapel Worldwide. Speaking to the Weekly Fylla from her Oseikrom base where she is putting finishing touches to her upcoming single. Sandy explained that; “because on her participation in the Mentor Show her pastor got bored and told her she has been suspended from singing in the church until he decides otherwise”. Sandy added, “in the first place my pastor together with other church members told me not to participate in the program because they think it exposes the youth to bad social practices which does not exemplify the life of a Christian child”. Sometimes the way I dressed, danced, the club scenes all contributed to this in a way. I am so much indebted to Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng of Power Chapel Worldwide because he has exposed me to a whole lot so I think he is hurt inside because I didn’t listen to him and went on to participate in the Show. He has traveled with me to many parts of the world and other churches. For now my suspension is indefinite. I don’t know when I would be called back but I go for choir rehearsals though I can’t perform. That is the norm. Once you are suspended you attend rehearsals like the other members but you don’t get to perform. My mum, my sisters and other church members have all begged on my behalf but to no avail. Recalling what might have led to her suspension from the church Sandy said; ‘I’d some problem with this guy who was interested in me and reported me to my pastor. Through this I was suspended. I joined mentor to keep myself active because I was lonely then. My partner then got mad about my involvement in mentor and we broke up. I know my pastor was disappointed in me but I would do my best to win his trust again’. Sandy gave the title of her maiden single album as “This is the time” for the English version and “Me da wa si” for the twi version. He is working with O.J who she describes as very instrumental in her album. Source: Weekly Fylla
