The Volta Regional Chairman of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP), Prince Ahiadzro has cautioned the electorate to be wary of political parties that preach violence and vote wisely during the parliamentary and presidential elections in 2008.
"Some politicians are going public about their intentions to expand the Nsawam Prisons to detain their opponents when they come to power, be wary of such people and take a proper decision when you reach the box to cast your vote”, he advised.
Prince Ahaidzro who was speaking at an NPP Youth Forum organized by the Ketu North Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) therefore urged politicians to be mindful of their utterances and gear their efforts towards uniting the people they want to govern.
The CPP Regional Chairman however called on political leaders to learn to tolerate each other in their deliberations.
Nana Ohene Ntow, the General Secretary of the NPP who was the guest speaker inaugurated the NPP Youth Club for the constituency and commended the executives for coming out with such a club.
He pointed out that the government was doing all it could to develop the region, adding that its development programmes does not have any political basis, "we are all Ghanaians and we shall make sure every region gets its share of the national cake ", he remarked.
Mr. Ohene Ntow called on the people of the region to support government policies and help implement them for the speedy development of the nation.
He called on the youth to remain "steadfast and put their shoulders to the wheel" to win more people for the party, adding "we hope to take more seats in the next elections".
Mr. Kofi Dzamesi, the Volta Regional Minister urged the people to rally behind the party and said the government was leaving no stone unturned to provide all the communities in the region with basic amenities including good trunk and feeder roads.
Mr. Dzamesi asked the people to embrace the National Health Insurance Scheme, the Capitation Grant and the School Feeding Programme to improve their standard of living.
Mr. Justice Cudjoe, the Ketu District Chief Executive tasked the youth to be conversant with the policies of government to be able to educate the people to save them from rumour peddlers.
He charged the Youth Club to start campaigning for the party now so as to win more people for the next parliamentary and presidential elections.
