Labour expert, Austin Gamey, is pushing for more dialogue between workers and their employees to minimize labour unrest and agitations.
His call comes at a time when the country has witnessed many labour unrests over claims of poor working conditions and unfair treatment of workers.
Speaking on Joy Business' economic analysis show, BUSINESS TRENDS, Mr Gammey said the persistent worker agitations was the result of poor engagement between employees and employers.
He was discussing how to improve the fortunes of workers, ahead of the Workers Day celebrations on May 1.
Also speaking on that same program was General Secretary of General Agricultural Workers Union (GAWU), Edward Kawereh, who said a lot more needs to be done to improve the fortunes of workers in the country.
“We demand that employers will respect the basic laws of this country, respect [employers], allow them to participate in decision-making, allow them to unionize to enhance productivity” he added.
Chief Executive of Private Enterprise Federation (PEF), Nana Osei Bonsu, said business owners must see their workers as their biggest assets if they really want to grow their businesses.
“We must work to improve the capacity of workers so they can contribute more to the business”, he said.
