The maiden edition of a fair dedicated to vegetable farmers and exporters was held in Accra Wednesday.
The Vegetable Fair 2015 is expected to facilitate education and unlock investment potentials in vegetable production in the country.
The fair which is under the auspices of Ghanaveg is on the theme: Innovative technologies, healthy, quality produce and new connections for domestic trade and export.
Some of the 17 companies who participated in the fair include Wienco, Agri-Mart, Just Fresh, and Eden Tree.
Speaking at the launch, Senior Business Advisor and Deputy Program Leader at Ghanaveg, Sheila Assibey-Yeboah bemoaned the lack of support for the vegetable industry.

She indicated that though Government has realized the export potential of the vegetable industry, the support is minimal.
Mrs. Assibey-Yeboah underscored the need for more support to the sector to increase vegetable production as demand goes up, especially in Europe and Asia.
She noted that Ghanaveg is hoping to change the status quo in vegetable production in Ghana by giving farmers technical and financial support to ensure their yields meet international standards.
“We are looking at bridging gaps, building synergies and improving the system through working with experts and local producers by giving them grants to maximize production” she added.
Mrs. Assibey-Yeboah is confident with the support from Ghanaveg, vegetables from Ghana will be the toast of the world.
