Central Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwamena Duncan is dismissing claims that the aspiring Member of Parliament (MP) for the Awutu Senya West constituency, George Andah is not a member of the party.
According to him, documents released by the aspirant during his vetting reveals that he has been a member of the party for a very long time.
With such documents proving his membership, “you cannot in your right senses say that he is not a member of the party,” he said.
He was reacting to comments by some individuals challenging George Andah's membership of the NPP. There were rumours the former head of Marketing at MTN had been disqualified during the vetting.
But Speaking on Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, the Regional Secretary debunked allegations Andah had been disqualified.
He said the documents provided by the astute marketer show that he has done a lot of underground work for the NPP but had only refused to make his involvement in the party known to the public until now.
“We were dumbfounded when he showed his party card and other pieces of evidence to prove that he is a member of the party. These show he has been an active member of the party except that he has not been a frontline member”, he said.
He said Mr Andah, like Ace Ankomah, Ken Ofori-Atta, and Yoofi Grant had carried himself as an objective individual, who shared non-political views on national issues.
Many people on the basis of this believe it was wrong for him to contest the parliamentary seat, especially on the ticket of the NPP or any other known political party.
However, Kwamena Duncan says George Andah has been vetted and as per demands by the National Constitution of the party, he satisfied all criteria "and there is not a question mark on him”
He said the party will soon release details of those who have qualified for the primaries.
If George Andah wins the NPP primaries, he will be contesting Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh.
