Development experts are suggesting the adoption of a well defined human-centered approach to the implementation of the Savannah Accelerated Development Strategy (SADA).Speaking on Joy FM’s current affairs programme Front Page, the experts agreed that previous development strategies have failed to make significant impacts because they were not focused on the welfare of the individual.A development policy advisor at the Office of the Vice President, Dr Sulley Gariba, said the priority for now is to develop infrastructure in the three northern regions to attract investment.“The strategic dimensions that we talked about around private sector involvement are really about defining some of the possibilities that will need to occur and based on the experience of recent various investments,” he said.Cabinet on Monday approved the SADA strategy signaling the beginning of the process to draft a new law amending the Northern Ghana Development Fund.The authority would help to correct policy failures in the northern parts of the country. SADA is seen as the most ambitious programme till date that aims at narrowing the yawning development gap in the northern regions of Ghana, as well as the contiguous savannah areas of the Volta and Brong Ahafo Regions, to the rest of the country.Among the broad concerns of the authority is the creation of a competitive northern economic zone that would highlight the enormous agricultural potential of the selected areas.The programme follows earlier interventions most of which ended with mixed results.Listen to excerpts of Dr Sulley Gariba's comments on the programmeSource: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
