The ex-Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alfred Ampong has sued the government for wrongful dismissal from office.
His counsel, Godfred Odamey told Joy News his client, among other things, is seeking to overturn a decision by government to surcharge him with some $20,000, an amount said to have been lost to the state as a result of his negligence.
The Chief Director was early on this year interdicted after investigations by National Security over corruption allegations made against ex-Sports Minister Muntaka Mubarak Mohammed.
According to the reports of the investigations, the chief director and the principal accountant, Adim Odoom could not substantiate a number of allegations made against the ex-Minister.
Whilst reprimanding Muntaka for indiscretion, the report recommended disciplinary action against the chief director.
But his counsel insists that is untenable and prays the court will overturn the decision and restore him to his position.
The case, he said, will be heard on Wednesday, 28th October, 2009.
