Ghana’s youngest television station, TV Africa, has come a long way from when its reach was only in Accra and the outskirts of a couple of neighbouring regions.
Today, TV Africa touches seven of the country's 10 regions and is currently engaged in efforts to get to the remaining three regions of Northern, Upper West and Upper East regions.
All the while that the technical men were at it getting their act together to improve reach and coverage, the production folk in Accra had been busy in the studio.
"We have lined up a good number of in-house must-see programmes which cut across entertainment, education and information spectrums", says TV Africa Marketing Manager Emmanuel Ansah Antwi.
One of the exciting programmes being churned out and which is soon to hit the screen with a bang is Bar Palaver.
Bar Palaver is a television drama series fashioned out to address the socio-economic and political challenges of modern day Ghana. The television drama series is set in a bar, and has one lead character and four supporting characters.
Mr Mensah, the lead character, owns the Black Star Line Spot, which serves as a point of convergence for the other characters to discuss the challenges they are facing in the country.
Being an old seaman and former crew member of the famous Ghanaian vessel, Black Star Line, Mensah, reminisces the good old days much to the disdain of much younger patrons of the spot. They think Mensah is living on past glories.
Esaaba, the beautiful and witty daughter of Mr Mensah works in the bar, thus attracting some unscrupulous men who frequent the spot. Mr Mensah does not like this and will discipline any man who has his eyes set on Esaaba. He has several brushes with some patrons.
This series explores humour in bringing out the more serious issues that we are confronted with in our society and everyday life.
