The Upper East Region Parliamentary caucus has condemned recent ethnic clashes between Kusasis and Mamprusis, describing it as "a stab in the back" as it has further derailed all the peaceful achievements made in the past.
They appealed to the security agencies operating in the area to bring all guilty parties to book devoid of political, ethnic, social status and other affiliations as a way of demonstrating that all are equal before the law.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Dominic Azumah, Chairman of the Caucus.
The statement appealed to the warring factions to cooperate with the Bawku Inter-Ethnic Peace Communities, security agencies and all other negotiating bodies to achieve perpetual peace and unity in the area.
The statement said the latest clashes that claimed three lives has not only reversed all significant gains made over the years, but is also serving as an impediment to the progress of women and children who are the most vulnerable in society.
The Caucus added that the insecurity in the area would scare potential investors, development and progress of the people and called on the government to adequately support the security agencies operating there to enable them discharge their duties professionally.
