Members of Ahafo Ano South District Assembly at Mankranso have elected Mr Nicholas Opoku-Afriyie, a teacher as the Presiding Member after several attempts since its inauguration.
His opponent Mr Matthew Borgor, a civil servant, stepped down during the last elections and Mr Opoku-Afriyie secured 44 out of the 53 votes cast. Nine ballots were rejected.
The election was supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Nana Asumadu Sakyi, Ahafo Ano South District Co-coordinating Director, urged the members to unite and co-operate towards accelerated development of the area to justify the confidence the electorate had reposed in them.
Present at the meeting was Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, Ahafo Ano South District Chief Executive.
