The police have arrested a man suspected of killing a pregnant woman and cutting off her body parts for ritual purposes.
Thirty-year-old Abdul Mohammed is helping the police in their investigations into the murder.
According to police, the suspect shaved the hair from the private parts of the deceased and cut her clitoris for what they suspect to be ritual purposes.
Amina Mohamadu was on her way to the clinic for antenatal care when Abdul offered lift with his motorbike.
But instead heading to the hospital, he took the victim to an unknown location and killed her.
The incident happened at the Northern Regional town of Jantutu in the Gonja District.
The Salaga police are holding the suspect pending advice from the Attorney-General's Department on a docket forwarded there.
The suspect, according to Northern Regional police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, has confessed to committing the crime.
He told the police he was seeking fortification in his mining business.
