Brig-Gen Martin Ahiaglo, General Officer of the Southern Command of the Ghana Armed Forces, has appealed to soldiers to be mindful of the 1992 Constitution and rules of engagement during operations.
"Remember that as long as you operate within the rules of engagement, the institution will protect you," he said.
Brig-Gen Ahiaglo was addressing a meeting of soldiers of the 66 Artillery Regiment in Ho over recent media reports of alleged acts of brutality meted out to some civilians by some soldiers in the line of duty.
He said the Armed Forces High Command was concerned and determined to reassure the citizenry that the forces are their dependable and key partner in national development.
"It is our responsibility to prove the media wrong and veer away from anything unfavourable to attract media criticism," he said
