All five of the soldiers who were set free by a High Court in Accra earlier this week are now back in the custody of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI).
About six weeks ago, the soldiers were detained in connection with the murder of former Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), Rokko Frempong.
However, their spouses successfully sued the BNI and a court subsequently ordered their release, chastising the BNI for flouting due process and infringing their rights.
On Wednesday, one of the soldiers was re-arrested and on Thursday a court remanded him in custody until January 28.
The other four were picked up in the early hours of Thursday after they reported for duty at the 64 Battalion of Infantry.
After his clients were picked up, Joe Aboagye-Debrah - lawyer for two of the soldiers including Sergeant Arthur - told Joy News the arrests were expected.
He said whilst his clients expected this turn of events, the arrests are a “major inconvenience because their lives have been turned upside down.”
