Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna has called on feuding traditional families and the Youth of the Region to use dialogue rather than violence to resolve their differences.

He said the violence which claimed 13 lives and left others injured in Bimbilla was needless and could have been averted.

The Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna said this at the Tamale jubilee park when he joined Muslims to mark the end of the month long Ramadan fasting and prayers.

He said no individual or group would ever benefit from conflicts since it inflicts pain on everyone.

“The development and the good life that the people were yearning for cannot be achieved if the region continues to experience pockets of conflicts that keep recurring."

Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna also announced Government plans to perform the final funeral rites of the late kings of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani and Ya-Naa Mahamadu Abdulai  in November, to pave way for the enskinment of a substantive Ya-Naa.

He said Government believes this will bring lasting peace to Dagbon and end the over a decade long chieftaincy crisis in the area.

“Government has resolved to do everything possible to unite Dagbon, some people have already started opposing it and are trying to thwart that effort, claiming in Dagbon tradition, funerals cannot be performed during the rainy seasons but we will perform them this coming November,” he stated.

Alhaji Mohammed-Muniru later presented about 100 bags of rice to the aged and the less privileged to enable them take part in the celebration.

Alhaji Abdul-Salaam Adam, Chief Imam of the Tamale Central Mosque, led the gathering through prayers and thanked Allah for a successful month-long fasting.

At the Ambariya Mosque leader of the sect Sheikh Saeed led the congregation in prayers.

He prayed for peace in Ghana and called on the congregation to let the blessings of the Ramadan season continue.

Among the dignitaries who joined in the ceremony were Deputy Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Basit Fuseini and Employment and Labor Relations Minister Haruna Iddrisu.
