An anti-trafficking unit to check the increasing spate of human trafficking has been inaugurated in the Ashanti Region.Chief Inspector Tamakloe of the Kumasi Police Public Relations said the new unit is part of the bigger vision of the Ghana anti-trafficking unit in Accra and would be established across the country.Speaking on Citi News Monday, Mr Tamakloe explained that a lot of people who fall victim to human trafficking are lured with the hope of a better life overseas only to be exploited.“What has come to the notice of the police is that there are a number of people who form a syndicate and then deceive people with greener pastures outside the country,” he stated. He noted that human trafficking does not only take place externally but also internally where victims are trafficked from one part of the country to the other.Chief Tamakloe said the new unit will coordinate the activities of the headquarters in Accra in fighting this canker. The Ashanti Region records the second highest trafficking cases in the country.By: Dorcas Efe Mensah/myjoyonline.com/Ghana
