The District Chief Executive of Kwahu South in the Eastern region was nearly lynched by executives of the party from Atiwa West and South constituencies after threatening to shoot them.
Joseph Omari Sasu’s outburst follows accusations brought against his colleague DCE for Atiwa by constituency executives whom said the Atiwa DCE has neglected the party.
The threat was made during a meeting at the residence of the regional minister to iron out differences among some constituency officials and some municipal and district chief executives from the region.
At the meeting, Omari Sasu, who is already serving a suspension from the NDC for allegedly instigating a publication of malicious stories about the party’s Mpraeso constituency chairman, allegedly threatened to shoot the Atiwa executives of the NDC if he was the Atiwa DCE, Emmanuel Atta-Twum.
Emmanuel Atta-Twum whilst responding to the accusations against him at the said meeting fell unconscious and was rushed to Koforidua Regional Hospital.
"You people are lucky it is not me, I would have shot you people,” he blurted out, probably frustrated by how his colleague was treated.
In registering their strong disapproval for the DCE’s comments, party executives from both the constituency and regional levels as well as members who were present pounced on him and chased out Mr. Sasu amidst loud boos and jeers with some wanting to tear him apart.
Meanwhile, Mr. Emmanuel Atta-Twum has regained consciousness and requested that he sees his personal doctor at Atiwa.
When contacted, Deputy Regional Secretary of the NDC, Francis Annoh-Dompreh indicated: "my brother this is an internal matter. What interest have you got in this case? I cannot tell you if it’s true or not’’.
