The Coca Cola New Year fireworks beach jam at the Labadi beach is fast becoming an annual event. This year, hundreds of revellers at the beach gathered around the stage to witness performances from some of the hottest hip life artists Ghana has to offer and this time, the fireworks actually worked unlike the previous year when the mechanism failed and organizers had to make do with releasing hundreds of balloons into the air instead.
The previous year might have had more artists on the bill but the few that performed this year adequately thrilled patrons of the event.
The always energetic 'Boogie Down Nima' boys, VIP were amazing on the day just like the fresh boys of 4x4. Mzbel wasn’t about to let the boys have all the fun; she excited the crowd with some raunchy dance moves and had them screaming and asking for more.
The pyrotechnic display, which lasted for a little over 5 minutes, sent the crowd into utter delight with each blast signalling the beginning of new things in the New Year.
Coca Cola also used the event to launch its new communication video or campaign for 2010. The 4 minute video which features vocals and appearances from the likes Gym Class Heroes, Janelle Monae and Cee-lo conveys the new slogan, “Open Happiness” for the non-alcoholic beverage giants.
