The Media Foundation for West Africa has called on state broadcaster Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to respect the legal processes underway and stop plans to begin the collection of TV license fees today.
Former VRA boss Charles Wereko Brobby has filed an injunction to stop the collection.
Executive Director of MFWA Sulemana Braimah told Joy News more education for the public is needed to guarantee their support for the license fees.
"I don't think it is right for GBC to say we are going ahead anyway to collect the license fees.
"I think it is important to focus on public education.
"Why won't GBC use the rest of the year or dedicate whole quarter to public education? Let the public understand how the collection is going to be done, what are the modalities, what benefits are they going to get after payment. But to just say that there is a law and we are going ahead with the law.
"I think ultimately they are going to fail," he said.
Mr. Briamah also rejected suggestions that the National Media Commission and the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association be allocated a share of the license fees.
"It looks as if this whole phenomenon of create loot and share is being played out as far as we are being told," he indicated.
