A Ghanaian woman is said to have died in Burkinabe cells after she was allegedly subjected to repeated sex by Burkinabe security personnel. The yet-to-be named woman, a tomato seller was said to have used herself as collateral prior to her purchase of tomatoes for sale in Ghana. She defaulted in the payment of the tomatoes and was subsequently picked up by the police in Burkina Faso.Members of the Ghana National Tomato Traders and Transporters Association alleged the woman was repeatedly raped at the cells resulting in her death. They have therefore asked market queens to cut back on tomato imports from their neighbours from the north in protest and solidarity over their dead colleague. They have also petitioned the Upper East Regional Minister Mark Wayongo over the matter. The Minister in an interview with Joy News expressed his regrets over the matter and pledged to look into the matter. He also welcomed the call to reduce importation of tomatoes from Ouagadougou.Source: Joy News/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
