International child based Non Governmental Organisation World Vision Ghana, has launched a five-year strategic plan that would seek to transform the lives of more than 4.5 million Ghanaians in rural areas for the better.

The plan includes strategies to improve upon the quality of education and health of children and their families in some of the most vulnerable communities in the country.

Launching the plan in Accra on Thursday, National Director of World Vision Ghana Hubert Charles announced the plan would be implemented between the 2016 and 2021 fiscal year.

Various projects would be rolled out to provide such communities with improved sanitation, hygiene, and safe water for consumption.

Projects will also be undertaken to improve household food security, through improved production and productivity of crop. Child protection programmes would also be vigorously pursued.

The plan would also seek to provide children with improved nutrition and reduce malnutrition. Fight against preventable diseases like, malaria, diarrhea, and cholera would also be prioritized.

World Vision is a Christian humanitarian, advocacy and development organisation dedicated to working to transform the lives of children, families and communities worldwide so they may reach their full prosperity by tackling the causes of poverty and injustice.

Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Kwaku Ricketts Hagan launched the report at an event chaired by Chief Executive Officer of Kama Group of Companies, Dr. Michael Agyekum Addo.

The Minister commended World Vision for the plan.

He noted that government appreciates World Vision’s role in helping deal with poverty in the country, noting the NGO plays a crucial role in developing the nation.
