The Council of Elders of the NPP, has dispelled rumours only five of the 30-member Council endorsed a decision to refer the party's chairman to a disciplinary committee.
A statement issued in Accra said the claims were meant to either embarrass the National Council of Elders or they were made out of malice and ignorance.
The New Patriotic Party's Council of Elders recently referred party Chairman, Paul Afoko, to the party's disciplinary committee for constitutional violations.
Later, there were reports that decision did not receive the endorsement of all the members of the Council.
But in a statement signed by Ambassador Agyei Bawuah, the Council said the reports were founded on falsehood.

PRESS RELEASE
DECISIONS OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF ELDERS
The attention of the National Council of Elders has been drawn to a statement in the media to the effect that only five (5) people took the decision to submit a complaint about the Party’s Chairman, Mr Paul Afoko to the Party’s Disciplinary Committee.
This story was put up either to embarrass the National Council of Elders or out of malice and ignorance. Committees all over the world work through subcommittees along the lines Parliaments operate.
The Council would want to inform all Ghanaians and particularly NPP members, supporters and sympathisers that, the Council ensures that its meetings are always accurately reported. It is normal and practical in large organizations for the documentation to be drafted by smaller groups (if not individuals) but all final decisions are by consensus and not by acrimonious division.
The National Council of Elders of the NPP, with a membership of over 30, cannot be expected to be an exception to this system which even Parliaments all over the world use.
The decision to refer Chairman Afoko to the NPP’s National Disciplinary Committee was along this line.
The Council takes the opportunity to advise all Ghanaians to try to refrain from making categorical statements on the basis of conjecture or unjustifiable deliberate falsehood. And this should be more crucially recognised by individuals who lay claims to being leaders or stalwarts or firebrands in the Party and should therefore know and respect Party organs and procedures.
The Council assures the faithful and the country at large that its only mission is to promote constitutional and effective NPP administration both at Party and National levels.
