A diaspora-based pro-opposition group, United for Change Movement –Abroad, is challenging the leadership of NPP to stand up and be counted as party supporters picket at the Electoral Commission next week.
In a statement with a screaming headline, ‘The Police May Have to Kill All of Us on Tuesday', the group asked every Ghanaian to “rise and protect and defend our nation.”
The group has thrown its weight behind the Let My Vote Count Alliance who are planning a second demonstration to petition the EC on the need for a new voters’ register on September 29.
The first demonstration ended abruptly after a disagreement between protestors and police turned bloody. One protester, Justice Adzakuma, 36, had to undergo surgery after police brutalised him and several others. He said doctors at the 37 Military Hospital told him that he cannot see with his left eye again.
The United For Change Movement –Abroad is therefore imploring all to join the demonstration with a “charged spirit”. “It is our turn to protect the heritage fought and won for us” the statement explained.
“We demand the presence of all concerned political parties executives, especially the NPP Chairman, Paul Afoko and CEO Kwabena Agyapong.
“…Go with us if you’re for us. No serious leader should sit back and watch the impunity of this government and its security agencies, unless the leader is cunningly in bed with the government in torturing people.”

Below is the full statement
The Police May Have To Kill All of Us on Tuesday – United For Change Movement –Abroad
“………..and help us to resist the oppressors’ rule on our will...” Shall we all sit down and watch the dogs to chase out the only Hen we have? Why do we sit down and watch when all our “prophets” are being killed by oppressors? Why should we be threatened by such a temporary fire by the Cook when there is unquenchable fire awaits him? No! We must all rise and protect and defend our nation. We must never again be allowed to be intimidated by any human being born and fed just like ourselves. Our forefathers fought with their blood to give us what we are destroying today. Many were killed and burned for this same course. We are no different from those patriots and national martyrs who for their fearless spirits fought and redeemed this nation for us living today. It is our turn to protect the heritage fought and won for us. Never should we disappoint the next generation with the spirit of coyness.
We are by this release calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians, especially students across the country to come in their numbers with a powerful and a charged spirit of patriotism to press home our unwavering demand, the New Voters’ Register. We demand the presence of all concerned political parties executives, especially the NPP Chairman, Paul Afoko and CEO Kwabena Agyapong.
We don’t want any whitewash press statements that seek to soothe the affected souls this time around. Go with us if you’re for us. No serious leader should sit back and watch the impunity of this government and its security agencies, unless the leader is cunningly in bed with the government in torturing people. We want to see your face our Leaders.
UfC-Abroad is going to mobilize our members, the TESCON AND STUNNAD members, and all interested students in various universities and polytechnics and colleges to join the demonstration on Tuesday. WE SHALL NEVER RETREAT NOR SURRENDER
….Signed…..
