Torrential rains that lasted several hours have submerged homes and displaced many in the Eastern Region capital, Koforidua.
The heavy rains on Wednesday forced many residents to abandon their homes for fear of being drowned.
Joy News' Eastern Region Correspondent, Kofi Siaw said residents at worst hit areas, like Abrewa Nkwanta and Nsukwa, are salvaging what is left of their household appliances and other properties.
“The floods also took over the main street, causing heavy traffic”, Kofi said Thursday.
The flooding was worsened by choked gutters, which residents say blocked the flow of water.
At Nsukwa, Kofi Siaw notes that flooding has become an annual ritual where in some instances several houses collapse, rendering many people homeless.
Resident at the affected areas say they are putting up with relatives and friends.
The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is yet to assist the displaced residents with relief items.
Recently, hundreds were left homeless and cut off from the rest of Tamale after torrential rains swept through the Northern Region capital. Residents in Bilpela and Kalariga, suburbs of Tamale, were worst hit.
Affected residents told Joy News the floods could have been prevented had an abandoned road project – which has an accompanying drainage system – been completed.
