An eight-year-old girl was knocked down and killed by the vehicle of the Municipal Chief Executive of Ejura Sekyeredumase in the Ashanti Region, Mohammed Bawa Braimah.
Ellen Mensah was sent on an errand when she met her untimely death while trying to cross the road.
Joy News' Mohammed Nurudeen reports that the accident happened at Kona in Afigya Sekyere East district but there are conflicting reports as to who was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Initial reports from some residents suggested that the Municipal Chief Executive was driving himself when the accident occurred. However, Joy News is also picking up information that the vehicle was being driven by the MCE’s driver even though he was in the car himself.
Eyewitnesses said the driver sped off after he knocked down the little girl but returned later to enquire about the situation.
The family of the girl is infuriated. They are questioning why the MCE has not come to the family to apologise and show remorse for the incident.
The family is currently meeting on the next line of action.
Several attempts to reach Mohammed Bawa Braimah to comment on the matter have been unsuccessful.
