The body of one of the two girls who were feared drowned in the Vea Dam on March 6, has been retrieved by a combined team of police personnel and local rescuers.
Fifteen year old Jennifer Anyorigeya's body was spotted floating on the deeper portions of the dam on the morning of Monday.
Rescuers are still busy at work searching for the body of Blessing Ayariba 13, the other victim.
Jennifer and Blessing were in a canoe with other school children which capsized on the dam on March 6.
The Vea Dam was constructed in 1966 by Government to be used for irrigation purposes.
It also serves as a source of water supply to the Bolgatanga Municipality.
The area has become a recreational centre where holiday makers patronize during festivities.
The community members and other residents in the region have expressed concern over the number of lives lost through drowning during festivities.
The vast dam is unmarked and has no life guards to watch over revelers during holidays.
