The La Police have said that they will go ahead and prosecute nurses at the La General Hospital who have been implicated in an assault case despite the refusal of doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching hospital to endorse the victim's medical form. The signing of the medical form would have aided the smooth prosecution of the nurses who were alleged to have assaulted a patient earlier this month. The nurses were accused of physically assaulting a female patient, Assor and stripping her bare after she visited the hospital to seek treatment for a stomach ache. The 40-year-old assault victim said she was stripped naked in the midst of over fifty other patients. Speaking to Joy News, the La District Police Commander, DSP Yaw Tetegah indicated that the refusal by the doctors to endorse the form will not hinder the prosecution process in anyway. “They [nurses] have not denied assault[ing] her. People were there and witnessed that she was assaulted; we may decide to go for a police report or go straight and prosecute the case.
