Tension between the two regions has been at a crescendo following an angry outburst from the Asantehene Otumfuor Osei Tutu II over the kidnap of a Toubodom chief who has pledged his allegiance to the Asantehene.
Body guards of the Techimanhene were said to have kidnapped the Tuobodom chief last week and handed him over to the police over an alleged assassination attempt.
The kidnap culminated into clashes between the Techiman and Tuobodom people which resulted in the death of three people.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after an emergency meeting with the Asanteman Council Monday called the president to act or he will act.
He swore to have the Techimanhene kidnapped if the government failed to act.
Currently angry youth in Kumasi are chanting war songs, just waiting for an order from the Asantehene in order for them to kidnap the Techimanhene.
Meanwhile a meeting between the Asantehene and a government delegation has just ended.
National Security Adviser Brigadier Nunoo Mensah who led the delegation called for calm between the two factions. He promised to move to Techiman to meet the Techiman council for an amicable solution.
The Ashanti regional police commander DCOP Patrick Timbilla also urged the youth not to take the law into their own hands.
He also urged the media not to sensationalise the story and help promote peace between the two regions.
