The board of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation has ordered investigations into an incident which resulted in a 25-minute delay of yesterday’s midday news on national TV.
It all started when the Deputy Director General, Anane Sarpong, instructed that a radio news staff should be put on air to read the TV news.
The TV News Editor, Titi Anepe, defied the instruction and engaged in verbal exchanges with Mr. Sarpong.
After a meeting on Monday, the board directed the Deputy Director General to submit a report on the incident.
Board Chairman Professor John Ahetor tells Joy News the board finds it worrying that some staff are resisting attempts to merge the radio and TV news rooms for the judicious use of resources.
Television news readers wore red arm bands Monday to present the 7 o’clock news bulletin.
Joy News has also learnt that the Director General has also met the aggrieved staff of the television unit, compelling them to resume the news highlights which were suspended following yesterday’s incident.
Meanwhile, the Information Ministry is making some interventions to end the turf war between the staff of the radio and television newsrooms of GBC.
