The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested Sofo Alhassan, 27, for allegedly murdering his step mother in Yendi on Monday.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Angwubutoge Awuni, the Northern Regional Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency in Tamale that the 60 year old widow Bibata Alhassan, who had taken a stroll to the local public toilet at about 7:45pm on Monday, was stalked by the suspect.ACP Awuni said an eyewitness who attempted to arrest the suspect later abandoned him to the rescue of the deceased who was then grasping for breath as she kicked on the ground.
He said the suspect took advantage and absconded.Source: GNA
