A 49-year-old Ghanaian sailor has been left stranded on the islands of Sao Tome and Principe for the past 18 months.
Emmanuel Arthur has been wandering in that country because he cannot afford $300 to pay for his journey back home.
Arthur, a native of Komenda and a father of three children, went to Sao Tome as a sailor on a Spanish vessel but he missed the return journey.
Narrating his ordeal to Sammy Darko, who is in Sao Tome with an American Navy contingent, Arthur said although he has lost all his belongings, he would love to return home.
“There is no place like home,” he said.
