The former head of the Confiscated Assets Committee is crying foul over his dismissal for alleged corruption.Carl Wilson has for some months now been in the news for allegedly selling stolen cars at the Tema Port.Government announced his dismissal on Thursday after a protest by some National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth who besieged the party office and locked it up demanding Carl Wilson’s removal.Communications Director at the Presidency, Koku Anyidoho, insists the dismissal was not as a result of the protest.But speaking to Accra-based station Asempa FM, Mr. Wilson said he has been used as a scapegoat.“Because I am not giving in to their wishes to deepen the woes of this country when it comes to corruption,” he said of those pushing for his dismissal.One of Mr. Wilson’s critics, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Manhyia, Dr. Matthew Opoku-Prempeh, is, however, dissatisfied with his dismissal.Mr Opoku-Prempeh is demanding further action saying “this is not about NDC, this is not about NPP, this is not partisan politics. This is an individual who is being protected by another individual causing havoc” and dragging the image of the country into disrepute.The Manhyia MP believes the dismissal of Mr Wilson has been too late in coming.Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto-Ablakwa, also tells Joy News it is in Mr. Wilson’s own interest to see to it that the investigations are concluded.He said ongoing investigations into Mr Wilson’s operations will continue, playing down suggestions that the dismissal was as a result of the outcome of the investigations.Source: Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
