Failure by Top Radio to produce the recording of allegations that ex-President Rawlings burnt down his own house has forced an Accra High Court to adjourn hearing involving a New Patriotic Party radio panelist. Nana Darkwa was arrested on February 18, 2010 in the Studio of Top Radio when he insisted he had evidence to prove that ex-president Rawlings burnt down his Ridge residence on February 14. He was subsequently charged with causing fear and panic and remanded in prison custody for two weeks by a circuit court, but the High Court overturned the decision and granted Nana Darkwa bail. Two previous sittings had been characterized by clashes by supporters of the NPP and the National Democratic Congress at the precincts of the court room. Joy News report says supporters of the two parties were present again on Monday, but were not disruptive, due largely to the presence of the security personnel at the court premises. The prosecution was depending on the recording from Top Radio as its substantial evidence but the station was unable to provide it. The case has thus been adjourned till April 15, 2010.
