James Klutsey Avedzi Member of Parliament for ketu North in the Volta region has accused his opponents of cooking up stories to cause disaffection for him.
He has therefore asked his supporters to ignore the vilification and false information being peddled about him and retain him in the pending National Democratic Congress parliamentary primary.
Lack of development in the constituency has been the trump card his opponents are using to unseat him. But Mr. Avedzi is strongly contesting that claim, pointing to some developments that have come to the area through his efforts.
Responding to his critics when he launched his re-election campaign, the MP said claim that he does not come to the constituency often is also false.
MP for Akatsi North Peter Nortsu Kotoe Bernard Ahiafor; MP for Akatsi South Mr Joseph Amenowode among other MPs took turns to throw their weight behind Mr. James Klutsey Avedzi as the most credible of all the candidates.
Mr Joseph Amenorwode entreated the people to elect a team player, capable of collaborating with the District Assembly to facilitate unity and development.
Deputy Minister for Finance Atto Forson said a vote against Avedzi would be a vote against development in the constituency because he is an experienced law maker, and his position as the finance committee chairman in parliament is also a plus to the constituents.
The mammoth launch was attended by chiefs and queens, and people from diverse background.
Mr. Avedzi is being challenged by three other candidates.
