Mr George Ayisi Boateng, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the national leadership to restrain the Member of Parliament (MP) for Asokwa, Mr Maxwel Kofi Jumah, from creating confusion in the party. He chided Mr Jumah and his small band of collaborators, whose public utterances, he said, were unhelpful and hurting the image of the NPP. He mentioned Hilda Addo former MP for Kwadaso, Kennedy Kankam, Ashanti Regional Organizer, Kwasi Nti, Chairman, Adansi-Fomena constituency, Kwasi Owusu Kodua, chairman Nsuta-Kwamang and Joseph Kofi Amoah, who was disqualified from contesting the Suame Constituency primaries as members of the gang. In a petition addressed to the General Secretary of the party, and copied to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Ayisi-Boateng decried their "persistent vituperations, innuendoes, insinuations and thinly veiled attacks on some key personalities of the party". He also found it difficult "to rationalize why they should incessantly attack virtually every decision of the National Executive Committee and the National Council, both in public and on the airwaves". "They should be sanctioned for failing in their individual duties as members of the party for not protecting and promoting the good name of the party; protecting the unity of the party and abiding and publicly upholding the decisions of the party as enshrined in Article three (3) paragraph D (i) to (iv) of the party's constitution, which specifies the duties of a member of the NPP." Mr Ayisi-Boateng pointed out that their behaviour left much to be desired and "should no disciplinary action be taken against them, the unity of the party will be under serious threat." He sent copies of the petition to the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP, the Chairman of the National Executive Committee, and Chairperson of the Ashanti Regional Parliamentary Caucus. Source: GNA
