Mr Mahmud Khalid, Upper West Regional Minister, has called on religious organisations to show more concern to the provision of basic employable skills to their members to make them self-reliance.
He said there was too much concentration on spirituality and doctrines to the detriment of helping Church members with skills that would enable them come out of poverty and diseases.
Mr Khalid made the call on Sunday when he joined worshippers of the Faith Foundation Baptist Church to deliver his Easter Message to Christians in the region.
He entreated religious organisations to provide literacy training to their members and assist them with micro finances.
Mr Khalid urged religious organisations to complement government's efforts to make food available to people.
Reverend Timothy Seidu of the Faith Foundation Baptist Church said God appoints leaders and therefore all must endeavour to respect whoever has been chosen to lead the country.
He urged leaders to have the fear of God in them always and appealed to Mr Khalid to be a Minister for all in the region.Source: GNA
