One person has been shot in Kulungugu, a suburb of Bawku in the Upper East Region, minutes after National Security announced a ban on motor-riding in the town.
The man, aged about 35 years, is said to have been shot by unknown assailants whilst he was escorting an articulated truck loaded with onions out of town.
Joy News’ Upper East Regional correspondent Joseph Osei said the shooting seems to have increased the tension in the municipality.
Police in Bawku have confirmed the incident but have declined to give further details.
It follows another incident a few days ago in which a Mamprusi motor rider was butchered and burnt by thugs.
