Two people died on the spot on Sunday when a taxi cab on which they were traveling collided head-on with a Ford Transit bus at Yaw Nkrumah on the Ejisu-Effiduase road in the Ashanti Region.

Several others who suffered various degrees of injury were rushed to Juaben Government Hospital.

Two of them whose condition was critical were later transferred to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

 The deceased victims have been identified as Kwabena Duah, 37; the driver and 35-year old Cecilia Owusu who occupied the front seat of the cab at the time of the accident.

Ejisu District Commander of the Motor Transport and Traffic Division, ASP George Owusu Aboagye, told Nhyira FM the taxi cab from Effiduase towards Ejisu veered off its lane and crashed into the Ford bus.

He says preliminary investigation reveals the cab was overloaded when the accident occurred in the evening.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Juaben Government Hospital morgue.
