A former Organizing Assistant of the Committee for Defence of the Revolution (CDR) has condemned the recent staging of demonstration by workers of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), who are calling for the removal of the Energy Minister, Dr. Joe Oteng Adjei. The workers are incensed by the Minister's alleged suggestion that the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) should be the sole supplier of Crude Oil to TOR. The enraged TOR workers also described Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata, former Chief executive of GNPC as an enemy of progress. But Mr. P. E. Ofosu, who is also the immediate past NDC constituency secretary for Bosomtwe, says it is mischievous for the workforce of TOR to describe Mr. Tsikata as an enemy of the Mills Administration. According to Mr. Ofosu, the good people of Ghana are discerning enough to know where the workers are coming from, and would not tolerate their agitations. He noted that TOR had been plagued with mounting debts over the past decade, until President Atta Mills came to its rescue. The cadre said there was nothing wrong with the President directing that TOR should import Crude oil alongside GNPC, if that would ensure availability of the commodity all year round. Mr. Ofosu suspected that the workers were being instigated by some selfish elements to make the Atta Mills-Ied NDC unpopular. He warned that much as Prof Mills will not look unconcerned while few individuals set the clock of progress backwards, he would not be detracted from ensuring that fuel is available all the time, to enable Ghanaians go about their legitimate economic activities. The cadre said the integrity of the President cannot be underestimated by TOR workers with their poIi-tricks. The NDC old guard reminded the TOR workers that it is the legitimate right of the government to ensure that fuel is available in the system, no matter the source of supply. Source: Chronicle
