The Ghana Water Company says the perennial water shortage in Kumasi and other parts of the Ashanti Region will soon be a thing of the past.
The assurance is premised on the completion of work on the rehabilitation of the Owabi and Barekese dams.
Officials say test-running will soon begin on new equipment installed at the dams to monitor efficiency.
Nhyira FM’s Ohemeng Tawiah who has been following the pace of work at the two dams reported that obsolete equipment has been replaced with new ones.
In a related development, Ashanti Regional Minister, Kofi Opoku-Manu, says his administration will ensure resources are distributed fairly for even development.
He says numerous appeals for improved socio-economic and infrastructural development serves as a motivation for delivering results.
Mr. Opoku Manu gave the assurance during a tour of Atwima-Nwabiagya District.
He expressed satisfaction at the rate of development spearheaded especially by the various municipal and district assemblies in the region, and was optimistic that the rehabilitation of the Kumasi—Accra rail line as promised by the Ministry of Transport will open up the region to other parts of the country.
