Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, the Northern Regional Minister, has said the 2008 general elections would be crucial for the survival of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said unlike the previous elections, the 2008 elections would be contested based on the performance of the party.
"The 2008 elections are crucial because Ghanaians now have the advantage to compare the performances of the NPP and the NDC and this is likely to influence their voting pattern."
Alhaji Idris who was addressing the NPP Northern Regional Congress at Tamale on Monday urged party supporters to re-examine NPP's lapses and strategise to enable it to win the polls.
He reminded supporters that the NPP had been in the political wilderness for three decades and that they should not allow petty squabble to divide their ranks.
"Let us learn to agree to disagree but in all, let us love one another. Remain calm, avoid intimidation and the use of abusive language."
Alhaji Alhassan Yakubu Adoo, the Northern Regional Chairman of the NPP, said there were some problems facing the constituencies that the regional executives were unable to address due to the lack of finance.Source GNA
